Latter Day Prophets are Number One

Image
This article gives basic facts about President Hinckley , for those that would like to know a few. I was thinking last night, President Hinckley was the Prophet during the shaping years of my life. I remember when I was little I knew who President Benson and then President Hunter were, my parents and primary teachers talked about them, and I think that was the main reason I accepted that they were prophets, because those people said so. President Hinckley was the prophet during that time in my life when I learned for myself the importance of having a testimony of the gospel and know that I knew he was the prophet because I knew it. President Hinckley taught us to, "Be Grateful, Be Smart, Be Clean, Be True, Be Humble, Be Prayerful." He built more temples in one sitting than any other prophet before him. He traveled outside of the United States more than any other prophet before him as well. He was funny, he was smart, but most importantly he is a humble servant of the Lord. S...

I'm not sure when my affinity for nerds began, having had my first crush at the tender age of five, but looking back, I think he was a nerd too. I can peg when I first became conscious of this love however, and that was back in high school when I saw the first Spiderman movie. There was just something about Peter Parker that made him utterly irresistible. This is why I love nerds. They are often so unsure of themselves that they don't realize how attractive they are. They are so supremely intelligent, but they're so busy trying to save the world that their grades don't always show it. They talk about the most ridiculous things, but you can't help but love hearing their nerdy conversations and their nerdy interests because they just love it so much that you have to love it too. Even though they often seem unsure of who they are, we'd rather take the one who seems like he doesn't have it together because he is trying to take care of the great responsibility th...

And They All Lived Happily Ever After

I saw the movie "Enchanted" with my little sister during the Christmas break, and it began a whole new thought process for me. I think we all have dating philosophies, mine has molded and changed over the past few years. I have engaged in a few recent discussions with a friend about what our dating philosophies are, and watching this movie added it to. Here is what I have so far, please feel free to add your opinion. First of all, I think it is important to note that I believe in fairy tales. In my mythology class over the summer we discussed the fact that several different civilizations and religions have similar myths, they all have themes of creation, a Christ figure, a flood. Stories that seem to be hardwired into us for some reason. They all have some level of the fantastic, something that can't be explained by any normal means, it all comes down to the divine intervening either in our behalf or in their own behalf. Fairy tales are no different when you think about i...
