Take Me Out to the Ball Game

I love baseball, I concur that it is America's past time far more than basketball. Not that I don't love basketball, but lets face it, it was created by a Canadian, and it is really the world's past time along with soccer. However, I digress.
For those of you that don't know, there is controversy surrounding Barry Bonds in the baseball world right now, because he is coming very near to breaking Hank Aaron's homerun record. People are concerned as to whether or not that is fair, because he has been embroiled in controversy regarding his use of "performance enhancing drugs." Here are two articles that present two different viewpoints on this issue.
Racism and Baseball
Letter to God
My own opinion? If Bonds did use drugs he is a cheater, and it isn't fair that his name be up in the ranks with people like Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson who had to press through racial barriers to simply be able to play America's past time, a right not freely given them by America, even though they were Americans. Bonds' alleged drug use cheapens that, and perpetuates problems of racial inequality because he is using a cheap method to get himself to the top. I really liked these articles. They made good points. Please, read them and comment. Even if you don't like baseball (what is wrong with you?) I'd like to know your thoughts on the subject.

Barry Bonds is dumb and doesn't deserve any honors.

Baseball is boring. The only one who cares about that sport are my new roommates...

In other sports news, how 'bout them Jazz? If they go up against the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, it's showdown time!

Here is a deeper comment. The Suns will wipe out the Jazz. Also, The AZ Diamonbacks are not boring to watch. Baseball is great! My 8 year old son got to play first base tonight and he was wonderful to watch.

Baseball is wonderful. The Utah Jazz are gay. I agree that Bonds should not get such big recognition for cheating at his record. However, in the record books, because he used drugs to break the record, his name will appear with an apostrophe after it that will seem to be for no reason. But it is to mark that there is question as to whether he legitimatally broke the record or if he cheated, but as of right now no one can actually prove that he did. So here is to Barry Bonds' who broke the previous record held by Hank Aaron.

So, here is the deal...Baseball players are a bunch of whiners. They go on strike and belly-ache over their million dollar salaries. I hate that. When we have children starving in the streets, and teachers in Utah are making marbles they feel they have the right to complain.

While I agree with you Todd, I would warn that you shouldn't limit it to just baseball players. All professional sports do that, not just baseball. But it does raise another issue. Not only is there a possibility Bonds cheated, but he is a jerk too. Somehow it seems all wrong. Thats what I especially enjoyed about the second article. Hankr Aaron's achievement was more important for several reasons, Bonds is just a jerk. He whines about inequality blah blah blah that he faces, and while I'm sure these complaints are somewhat legitimate, he is better off than several people that are not considered racial minorities. If he can understand their plight (which I doubt he can since Willie Mays is his grandfather so his family has probably always been well off) he should be doing something about it, and he isn't.

Go Suns!

Because I believe the Jazz will have a tactical advantage over them should they go head-to-head in the Western Conference Championship!

You gotta love it, baby!
