Give it Up

So last night was The Format concert. It was so rad. How could it not be when they're from AZ? It was a nice little cap off to my summer, which is now almost over. My job as a TA has been verified, next week will be my last week as a paralegal, and the time has come for me to buy books and backpacks...I hope I don't get in a fight... sorry, random Billy Madison moment.

Anyway, this summer has been fantabulous, yes I did just use that fake word. Being in Provo for the summer has been a good experience for me. Now I feel like something is just around the corner, besides school that is... I'm not quite sure what it is, but I know its going to be great whatever it is... Is it possible that it could be my fall semester opener... also known as the Mae concert on Sept. 6?? Its possible... however, I don't think thats it...I feel like this summer has been such a great learning experience to prepare me for some great new even that is going to come my way. Maybe I'm making that up, maybe it was great general life lessons that I just needed to learn. Those are important too, but I guess I'll see.

Well, I guess thats it, I mainly wanted to update my blog because it had been awhile. Well, I guess I could also tell you that Miriam got her mission call!! I'd tell you where, but then I'd have to kill you. No, really its because thats what she gets to do.(Tell you and kill you that is.) So bother her until she updates her blog with the great news! I love you Miriam, you rad little missionary. Too bad I didn't get any pizza, although I think Bukran guessed right, maybe he'll share with me... :) We shall see I suppose. Dangit! My mission reunion is on the 29th! So much for the Strokes show... I desperately need that pizza to salve my wounds!!! What's another good concert I can go to?

A Tragicomedy of Poetic Verse

If you could please all forgive me, I am taking the time to wax philosophical within this post. So Friday night I went and saw the movie "Stranger than Fiction." This was a highly good film and I would recommend that everyone go see it. Take home made cookies with you too, because you'll want to eat them. The premise of this film, for those of you that don't know, is that the main character, Harold Crick, begins hearing a voice in his head, narrating his life in third person omniscient. The voice is right about a lot of things, and is mainly very annoying until Harold hears the voice say that he is going to die. So, I began thinking about life and death. Tell Me on a Sunday: Letting Go of the Upper Hand

Human nature is a funny thing isn't it? I have noticed in relationships that I lean towards the side of carefully guarding everything about myself in order to avoid seeming vulnerable in any way. I am certain that I am not the only one who does this. Although The Main Ingredient explained to us clearly in the 70's that everybody plays the fool sometimes, we still try to be the exception to the rule. Lately I have been evaluating myself and how closely I guard emotions, experiences, and fears in order to not end up as the fool. I find myself coming back to this question: when is it good to keep the upper hand, and when is it better to trust and let go?
